We specialize in a balanced approach to investing which seeks to achieve a competitive risk-adjusted return through disciplined asset and sector allocation, dividend reinvestment, and periodic rebalancing. Our investment approach focuses on three primary objectives:
- Preservation of capital
- Regular income
- Long-term growth of principal
Our clients’ investment objectives typically include some or all of the following:
- To assure a comfortable retirement
- To minimize income and estate taxes
- To continue to build net worth over time
- To protect assets from creditors
- To transition wealth to the next generation and/or charity
Aegis allocates investment capital by paying close attention to the following asset classes:
- Stocks: We concentrate equity investments on securities with a blend of growth and value characteristics. We achieve diversification via low-cost exchange traded funds (ETFs). For certain clients, we invest in individual companies. When we do so, we have one strategy. We identify large capitalization, primarily U.S. domiciled, multinationals. These companies are global leaders in attractive industries with strong market share and cash flow. They almost always have an established history of both paying dividends on time and growing the dividend amount. Not least important, the companies evidence strong financial health that enables them to make strategic business investments during all phases of the economic cycle. At Aegis, you are an owner of businesses, rather than a trader of stock.
- Fixed Income: Our strategy focuses only on high quality, USD denominated securities. The bonds are investment grade and primarily in three key areas: Treasury and Agency, Tax-Exempt Municipals, and Corporates. Portfolios are constructed with close attention given to interest rates, inflation, maturity dates, call provisions, and duration.
- Cash: The cash management strategy utilizes money markets, bank CDs, and high-quality short-term floating rate securities. Additionally:
- Cash deposits are available in USD, Euro, British Pound Sterling, Japanese Yen, Singapore Dollar, and Swiss Franc.
- Insured deposits are available for USD cash balances, up to $2.5 million FDIC and $250,000 SIPC, totaling $2.75 million. There is no cost for this insurance.
Our customized client portfolios can result in investment allocations that differ significantly from the S&P 500 weightings. Even in sectors or industries that have approximate market parity, the composition of the sector or industry in our portfolios may differ significantly from the benchmark index.
Fees are based on a percentage of the assets we manage for clients, mutually agreed to in advance, and billed in arrears. Compensation for financial planning that includes the delivery of a written financial plan is typically in the form of a fixed annual fee. Financial planning is an optional service.
We do not sell investment products. Life and LTC insurance is available upon further consultations.
